Android TV Boxes

An Android TV box turns any TV with an HDMI port into a full streaming device – no new smart TV needed. Our Android range is built around the Infomir MAG555: a 4K box running Google TV, with Google Play, voice search from the remote and your favourite streaming apps in one place. It plays 4K HDR with Dolby Digital sound and connects by Wi-Fi or Ethernet. Prefer a lean box built purely for IPTV? See our Linux MAG boxes.

What an Android TV box does

An Android TV box – often simply called an Android box for TV – is a compact player that connects to your TV over HDMI and gives it a complete Google TV interface. You get the Google Play store, your streaming apps on one home screen and a voice search that finds titles across your apps. Your TV only needs to display an HDMI signal, so an older set can keep going instead of being replaced.

Google TV and Android TV explained

Android TV is the operating system; Google TV is the interface Google puts on top of it. The MAG555 runs Android TV OS with the Google TV experience – recommendations from your apps on one screen, a Google Assistant button on the remote and access to Google Play. Its full specifications are on the product page.

Apps, 4K and connections

Apps: install streaming, music and IPTV apps directly from Google Play.
Picture and sound: 4K HDR output with Dolby Digital audio.
Network: Ethernet for the most stable 4K stream, or dual-band Wi-Fi where there's no cable near the TV.
Accessories: Bluetooth lets you pair headphones, keyboards and game controllers.

Android TV box or Linux MAG box?

Choose an Android TV box if you want apps, voice search and several streaming services on one device. If you only need your IPTV service and prefer a box without an app store, a Linux MAG box is the simpler option. Our article on how the Google TV MAG555 differs from the Linux MAG544 explains the choice in detail, and the full range is on our MAG IPTV boxes page.

Who this category is for

Android TV box FAQ

What does an Android TV box do?

It adds a full Google TV system to any TV with an HDMI port, so you can install apps from Google Play, stream in 4K and search by voice.

What should I look for in an Android TV box?

Check that it runs Google TV or Android TV with the Google Play store, outputs 4K HDR, offers both Ethernet and Wi-Fi, and has Bluetooth for accessories. The MAG555 covers all four.

Do I need an Android TV box if I already have a smart TV?

Not necessarily. A box is worth it mainly if your TV's own system lacks the apps you want – and you can move it to another TV later.

Can I use IPTV apps on it?

Yes. Install your IPTV or OTT provider's app from Google Play. The box doesn't come with channels or a subscription; Infomir and DeviceBazar do not provide TV content.

Wi-Fi or Ethernet – which is better for 4K?

Ethernet is the most stable connection. The dual-band Wi-Fi works well where a cable isn't possible.

How fast is delivery?

We usually dispatch within 1–2 business days of payment from Frankfurt am Main. Standard delivery within the EU takes up to 6 business days; the UK, Norway and Switzerland may take longer because of customs.
